Time To Replace Your Missing Teeth?

Time To Replace Your Missing Teeth?

kansas city missing teeth

Losing natural teeth could lead to serious complications for your oral health and even your quality of life. Without treatment, you could see your smile erode! But we can help with custom dental prosthetics. In today’s blog, your Kansas City, MO, dentist talks about dental bridges, dentures, and more.

The Importance of Treating Lost Teeth

Tooth loss can lead to limited meal options, so you miss out on your favorite foods and are denied essential nutrients too. Missing teeth also complicate how clearly you speak and could be a source of embarrassment, impacting your social life. Losing natural teeth could increase the risk of misalignment, and even complications like TMJ disorder and bruxism (teeth grinding). Your jawbone could also lose mass and density due to lost tooth roots, weakening to cause further tooth loss and even an older appearance! But we can help prevent complications like these by replacing missing teeth with dental prosthetics.

Dental Bridges

If you have minor tooth loss, such as one missing tooth or two to three in a row, then we could help with a dental bridge. The prosthetic will contain new teeth with crowns on each end. Made from ceramic, this can be color-matched to blend with your smile and provides a durable chewing surface too. We attach the crowns to the teeth on each side of the gap, which secures them for 10 to 15 years on average, so you can smile with confidence.

Full and Partial Dentures

What if you have more substantial cases of tooth loss? If you have lost most or all of your teeth, we can remove the last few and custom-make a set of full dentures, which provides a full row of new and custom teeth set in an acrylic base. Suction or adhesives can keep your new smile in place. If you have complicated cases of tooth loss, with multiple gaps spread out across your smile, but a significant number of natural teeth still in place, we could create a partial. This contains new teeth that fit in the gaps of your smile, and the denture is held in place with clasps that attach to atrial teeth.

These are removable dentures, and last about 5 to 10 years on average!

Dental Implants

Dental implants offer the most lifelike replacement option, as these are inserted into the jaw and act like new roots. They bond with the jawbone and can ensure your new teeth last for decades to come, preventing the loss of mass and density in the jaw. We can also use several to support a bridge or denture that lasts far longer than traditional options!
