Checkups and Cleanings for Children

We want to see your kids for a checkup every six months starting at around age two. Checkups allow us to instill good oral hygiene habits, help them better understand their smile, and reduce the risk of dental anxiety. In addition, we will also examine the smile with advanced digital technology, so we can identify issues like tooth decay and gingivitis in the early stages, providing treatment before your little one experiences discomfort. In the same visit, our team will use an ultrasonic scaling device and a manual pick to remove all plaque and tartar from the teeth. The cleaning helps lower the risk of cavities, gingivitis, bad breath, and even teeth stains!

Dental Sealants

We know that even if kids take time to brush and floss daily, they may not be able to reach the rear teeth. That means food and drink particles can stay trapped between the molars, which increases the risk of cavities. But with dental sealants, we apply a special acrylic coating to these teeth. The coating then prevents food and drink particles from being stuck between the teeth, which lowers the risk of cavities. Placement only takes minutes and kids just need to avoid food and drink for about 30 minutes. The sealants can stay in place for up to ten years in some cases!

Fluoride Varnish

We can also apply fluoride to the teeth in a varnish form, coating them in seconds. Fluoride helps strengthen the outer enamel, even the weakened portions, to lower the risk of tooth decay. Application takes seconds and as with sealants, kids just need to avoid food and drink for about a half hour. We also recommend fluoride toothpaste when your kids brush, a rice sized amount for kids under the age of three, a pea sized amount for children over the age of three.
