Ensuring Your Comfort With Advanced Technology

Ensuring Your Comfort With Advanced Technology

kansas city advanced technology

Our team wants to help improve the health, beauty, and function of your smile. To do so with comfort, we can use advanced technology, from digital x-rays to custom sports guard! In today’s blog, your team at Delightful Dental Care talks about helping smiles in Kansas City, MO, with comfort and technology. Our team wants to help restore your smile and offer optimal oral health and beautiful results, and that starts with digital imaging for a diagnosis, and proceeds to our ability to create custom restorations, prosthetics, and oral appliances, all with advanced technology!

Sleep Apnea Appliances

Advanced technology provides a comfortable way for our team to treat sleep apnea. With this disorder, as you rest soft tissues in the back of your throat and in your mouth become too relaxed and collapse, cutting off airflow. You stop breathing, which interrupts your REM sleep. The brain wakes you to resume, but you may not recall this happening, even though it could interrupt REM sleep dozens of times each hour during the night. The disorder leaves you exhausted and irritable, and eventually strains your heart health! You could also snore.

But our team can help. With the Cirona 3D imaging system, we can take digital x-rays quickly and comfortably, and combine them to create a 3D model of your bite, so we can design and craft a custom oral appliance that is worn while you rest. The appliance fits like a mouthguard and helps shift the jaw to prevent the collapse of soft tissues, so you rest without interruption!

Sports Guards

If you play sports, you need to wear a mouthguard. This applies to kids, teens, and adults. While a store-bought boil-and-bite option is effective, it may not provide the same level of protection as a custom-made one. Designed based on 3D impressions we take of your bite with digital technology, this will be custom-made for your bite. The better fit limits the risk of cracked, chipped, or knocked-out teeth, as well as damage to orthodontics or injuries to your jawbone and facial bones. Being custom-made means it lasts longer too, up to a year, and you can even choose your favorite colors!

Digital Technology

To plan treatment with precision, we will take digital images of your smile. With digital x-rays, we take images without the need for bitewings, and they are instantly available chairside, allowing us to plan care with precision using 90% less radiation. To obtain images of the surfaces, diagnosing issues like TMJ disorder and bruxism, we can use an intraoral scanner.

We can also employ intraoral scanners, which can obtain clear images of your smile from multiple angles quickly and comfortably using a small camera at the end of a thin wand. We then combine these to create a 3D impression, one far more accurate than a traditional physical one. Finally, we can offer a diagnosis and plan care with precision using the CBCT scanning system. This obtains panoramic x-ray images of your bite and oral structures, so we can plan care for all ages, and take on more complex oral health concerns with precision and accuracy.

Soft Tissue Lasers

To ensure comfort when we tackle soft tissue concerns, we can use advanced technology. With soft tissue lasers, our team can trim and reshape your periodontal structures and tissues with precision and accuracy, and in only one visit. For people with severe gum disease, we can gently trim away the diseased portions of the smile, reshaping the gum line in the process and destroying harmful inflammation-causing bacteria. The disease can then be easily managed with preventive treatments moving forward.

If you have a gummy smile, one that shows off too much soft tissues, we could trim away the excess tissues and reshape the tissues in the process to ensure proper symmetry and beauty. Again, this takes one only one visit. With lasers, we do not need sutures or scalpels, and the process takes one visit and heals quickly. The risk of bleeding, infection, and swelling is also much lower!
