Our team wants to help you smile with confidence again, and to ensure this is possible, we will use advanced dental technology. In addition, we can offer options like sedation to keep you comfortable! In today’s blog, Delightful Dental Care talks about helping smiles with comfort and technology in Kansas City, MO. With the right tools and steps, we can ensure everyone enjoys a positive experience in our office, even if they have a serious dental anxiety or special needs that could otherwise complicate care!
Dental Technology
- Digital X-Rays
Digital x-rays allow our team to take detailed images of the interior of your tooth, as well as the roots and underlying bone structure. The system employs 90% less radiation, and we don’t have to employ uncomfortable bite wings either. The images are then available instantly chairside, so we can walk you through the diagnosis and you spend less time in the chair!
- Intraoral Camera
To look closely at the surfaces of your gums, our team can use intraoral cameras. A tiny camera will be set in the end of a thin wand, so we can take multiple images of the smile from multiple angles quickly and comfortably, using them to create a 3D model.
- iTero
The iTero® system uses the intraoral camera to create the images necessary to make an impression of your bite, one far more accurate than a physical mold. No need to bite down on a metal mold filled with gooey materials! This allows us to create oral appliances, restorations, and even prosthetics with better precision and accuracy.
- CBCT Imaging
For a panoramic view of your entire bite, including what is beneath the gums, we could take CBCT images of your smile. This is essential for planning and conducting more extensive treatments, such as wisdom tooth extraction and even dental implant placement.
- Dental Laser
Our team can employ a soft tissue laser to help manage and control issues like gingivitis and gum disease, which helps keep your smile full and healthy, and protects the beauty of your smile too. Lasers target areas with precision, and rarely require anesthesia. The treated areas heal quickly, so you return to your normal activities in as little as a day or two!
Dental Comfort
To ensure your treatment experience is comfortable, even if you have anxiety or special needs, we can offer dental sedation. We will choose an option based on your age, weight, medical history, anxiety levels, and any medications you are currently taking. For example, we could choose nitrous oxide, so you breathe in a gas and reach a deep state of calm. The effects can be adjusted during treatment and wear off quickly, you can even drive yourself home!
But we also have a deeper state of calm possible with oral conscious sedation, taken in a pill or liquid form prior to treatment, or IV sedation, which is administered intravenously. These options will necessitate someone being in hand to bring you home afterward. Don’t let worries or bad past experiences stand between you and the smile you deserve, between our local anesthetics and sedation, we can help ensure your experience is optimal!
Sleep Apnea
Sleep apnea can impact how you rest and even strain your heart health and immune system. But we can offer a nonsurgical solution, one that helps you avoid chronic snoring and feel more rested and relaxed when you wake up. Our team will use an advanced 3D imaging system to take detailed pictures of your bite from several angles, and use them to allow us to design and craft an oral appliance custom-fitted for your bite. When worn, this custom oral appliance helps shift the jaw and tongue to keep airways open and prevent soft tissues collapse, so you do not have episodes of breathing cessation and avoid snoring, sleeping with ease again. The oral appliance is easy to use and clean, and it can travel with you too!
