The process starts with a brief office visit, so we can take impressions of your teeth and create a set of custom plastic trays, which fit gently over your teeth. We send these home with you, along with a powerful bleaching gel. When at home, you will add gel to the trays and wear them for a set amount of time, usually an hour or two. The trays ensure the results are even across your smile and prevent the gel from being diluted. The total treatment time varies, but could take between one and two weeks. You then keep the trays and any remaining gel for touch-ups in three months to come.
Masking Permanent Discoloration
These custom kits can address extrinsic stains, which form on the surfaces of your teeth, and minor intrinsic ones, which form beneath the enamel. Also known as permanent teeth stains, intrinsic stains can sometimes be difficult to remove with teeth whitening. If you have serious intrinsic stains, we could instead mask them in one visit with dental bonding, or create custom veneers to mask them and also address other concerns with the shape of the teeth at the same time.
